Fraudulent email uses Bank of America logo to dupe customers into giving personal information

TULSA - Scammers are looking to steal your information with a new email scheme involving the Bank of America logo.
According to the Tulsa Police Department's Financial Crimes Unit, the email claims the customer initiated a large monetary transfer and the transfer has been completed.
The email offers an option to cancel the transaction by clicking a link, but police say the link takes the user to a phishing site designed to appear to be the actual Bank of America.
Police say the user is asked to provide information, including social security number, date of birth and security question information.

Detective Sgt. Alicia Maurer says providing the requested information would compromise every aspect of the user's financial life.
"Financial institutions will never ask for that kind of information," said Maurer.  "If in doubt initiate contact with the number on the back of your card or a number you know to be your bank or credit card."
